Health Standards Organization (HSO) is searching for Technical Committee members who share our passion for achieving quality health services for all. In Canada and around the world, we are building a bold and bright future for our enterprise and our clients. If you are looking for a challenge and seeking to be part of something larger than yourself, this position could be for you.

Position Summary/Description
HSO is developing a new edition of the Organ Donation standards. The new standard will provide guidance to enable the delivery of safe, equitable, and people-centred, comprehensive, and coordinated organ donation services. It will support the needs and preferences of individuals, families, caregivers, and communities, applying to all populations, age groups, and health care settings where organ donation activities occur. These settings include hospitals, transplant centers, and community health services that contribute to organ donation processes.
The standard will address the social, ethical and cultural dimensions of organ donation, emphasizing equitable access to services and the promotion of informed consent. It will cover a range of activities including awareness and education, donor identification and referral, clinical management of donors, and recipient allocation processes. This includes integrating health and social services, addressing barriers to donation, promoting trust in the organ donation system, and ensuring effective system navigation and collaboration across health care and community services.
The standard will outline the roles, responsibilities, planning, performance, safety, equity-informed care, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the organ donation process. It will include measurable, outcomes-based requirements designed to improve organ donation rates, enhance the quality and safety of organ donation services, and ensure alignment with ethical and legal standards.
