Senior Director, Commissions
Location: Remote – U.S. Based | Executive Leadership | Finance Operations
One of Blackmere’s clients is in the midst of an exciting evolution — aligning systems, processes, and strategy to better support a high-performance revenue organization. With a newly centralized commissions team and executive-level commitment to scale, they’re ready for a strategic and hands-on Senior Director of Commissions to help drive clarity, consistency, and trust across the organization.
If you're energized by transformation, intrigued by the mechanics of go-to-market models, and ready to turn complexity into clarity — this role was made for you.
The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role designed for someone who thrives in operational complexity and knows how to build for scale. The organization has consolidated two distinct commission teams — one supporting internal sellers and one managing partner payouts — and is looking to elevate the function to a new level of precision and performance.
You’ll be responsible for leading commission strategy and delivery across the organization. That means engaging directly with revenue leaders, partner operations, and the field to ensure commission programs are accurate, transparent, and aligned with broader business goals.
Success in this role requires a rare mix of operational rigor, systems thinking, and people leadership. You’ll be a critical partner to go-to-market teams, a trusted advisor to leadership, and a driver of long-term scalability.
What You’ll Be Doing
-
Lead and evolve end-to-end commission operations across internal and partner programs
-
Drive collaboration across Revenue Operations, Partner Ops, Finance, and IT to ensure alignment
-
Oversee team structure and performance — currently spanning U.S. and India-based contributors — with the authority to retool or rebuild as needed
-
Enhance transparency and trust in the field through consistent communication, reporting, and enablement
-
Own the roadmap for commissions systems and tools (Xactly, Salesforce, ERP integrations), with an eye toward automation and data integrity
-
Serve as a key liaison to sales and partner leadership, resolving issues, sharing insights, and driving alignment
-
Improve efficiency and accuracy, with a specific goal of reducing commission-related support tickets and rework
-
Act as a change agent, supporting the rollout of updated policies, performance metrics, and compensation models
What You Bring
- Proven leadership in commissions, sales operations, or finance operations (10+ years in SaaS or similar environments preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of commission plan design, systems execution, and field engagement
- Experience with global, distributed teams and the ability to manage across time zones
- Hands-on knowledge of Xactly, Salesforce, and ERP platforms (NetSuite is a plus)
- A “builder’s mindset” — someone who is energized by creating structure and process where it’s needed
- Ability to communicate with empathy, clarity, and confidence — especially when rolling out change
- Strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making, balanced by a willingness to get in the weeds
- Strong understanding of go-to-market strategy and the business impact of commissions beyond accounting
Why This Role Stands Out
-
Executive visibility — direct line to senior finance leadership and influence across the business
-
Team ownership — autonomy to shape structure, people, and process to support growth
-
Modern tools and platforms — with support for automation, integration, and scale
-
Real impact — this role is key to enhancing trust with both internal sellers and external partners
-
Flexible work environment — fully remote (U.S.-based), with collaborative, communicative teammates
-
A growth story — the organization is maturing its revenue operations, and this role is at the center of that evolution

- A clear, streamlined escalation and inquiry process for the field
- A stronger relationship between commissions, revenue operations, and sales leadership
