Part-time Senior Manager

TNTP seeks a Part-time Senior Manager to work up to 25 hours a week, supporting teams across the organization. This position must be local to Los Angeles and capable of driving up to an hour within Los Angeles County.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Part-time Senior Manager you will play a critical role in TNTP's teacher development initiatives and program by coaching program participants, specifically around high quality math instruction. You will be responsible for the performance of math teachers in your caseload, developing teachers to reach their full potential.
Here are some examples of what a Part-time Senior Manager might do:
Develop and execute a data-driven and comprehensive coaching strategy that supports retention and improved performance of teachers in multiple schools, networks, and districts across a variety of schools/contracts.
Directly develop a caseload of math teachers through responsive coaching, training and modeling, ensuring that teachers rapidly improve their performance and are inclusive of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the students they teach
Build trusting partnerships with teachers that feel inclusive and honor diverse perspectives
Facilitate trainings on and demonstrate instructional techniques using research-backed best practices and instructional models for high quality math instruction
Leading a team of summer pre-service training staff, ensuring that new teachers are effectively prepared for a strong start to the school year
Identifying and implementing innovative solutions for improving teachers’ overall performance to meet contract goals
Designing and delivering math-content specific sessions and lead teacher study groups focused on math, teacher professional development
Design standards-aligned, math content specific sessions for teacher professional development around high-quality math curricular materials and the CA Math Framework
Supporting teachers by providing feedback on lessons and assessments that align with standards
Regularly communicate with school leaders, school-based coaches/mentors, and other stakeholders to provide consistent developmental support for teachers on your caseload
Supporting TNTP’s broader teacher development initiatives, proposing and crafting long-term, standards aligned teacher development strategies and services

We expect our Senior Managers to:
Have classroom experience. You have at least two years of teaching experience (preferably in a high-need school) and a proven track record of raising student achievement in mathematics. You have strong familiarity and expertise with the Common Core State Standards and/or the state standards for math and the CA Math Framework. (highly preferred).
Know great teaching when they see it. Whether you are watching a teacher deliver a lesson or looking at student performance data, you can identify where that math teacher is effective and what they need to do to improve immediately and in the long-term.
Develop teachers. You track and analyze teacher data, but it’s what you do with it that really has an impact. Based on your data analysis and what you see in the classroom, you identify new approaches to improve teacher performance under a quick timeline.
Have stage presence. We’re counting on your strong facilitation skills and ability to expertly lead teacher professional development.
Be comfortable with the unknown. Ambiguity doesn’t scare you; just the opposite, you thrive on it. You are flexible and comfortable adapting your work to maximize your impact on students, the teachers you coach and your team.
Be a constant learner. A commitment to constant learning and improvement, in both your own work and the work of others. You thrive on feedback and implement it quickly to continually improve your practice
Embrace cross-cultural agility. Authentic self-reflection, self- awareness, and high emotional intelligence are central to who you are, and you utilize these skills to contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. You have an adept cultural understanding of yourself and use your understanding of yourself and others to build trusting relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
Build relationships. You have an ability to connect and build relationships with diverse communities. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Qualifications:
Strong proficiency in all components of math instruction, particularly aligned to the CA Math Framework.
A passion and skillset for providing differentiated learning support for all students.
Proven experience in educational coaching, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and foster a growth mindset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders of all literacy experiences.
Willingness to travel to Los Angeles, CA to be on-site with teachers – between 2-5 school sites.
Adaptability to work independently and collaboratively, while maintaining various schedule demands.

TNTP offers a competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience in a similar position. The pay range for this position is $38.02 - $57.04 per hour.
