An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NIHR East of England Regional Research Delivery Network. We are searching for a dynamic leader who will manage the Agile Research Delivery Team, supporting studies in the Wider Care settings and for key studies in NHS Trusts across the region.
As Senior Manager, you will also have responsibility for a programme of work to reach out to new settings to enable them to become research active. The post holder will play a key role in providing expert strategic leadership to build on the East of England track record of work in primary care and other wider care organisations
The position includes line management of your team of Agile Research Delivery Team Manager(s) and professional accountability when applicable. The post holder will represent the Agile Research Delivery Team as required. The role involves contributing to, and at times leading, strategic programmes for the Agile Research Delivery Team, regionally and nationally.
The post holder will be accountable to the RRDN Director and report to the RRDN Head of Research Delivery & Support for Wider Care Settings. If you have extensive research experience, like a challenge, can inspire the best from a team, this could be the role for you!
Advert
- Provide oversight of local feasibility assessments for studies, including identifying potential sites/investigators for the study, assessing the available research resources and facilities.
- Have oversight of contractual arrangements for Agile Research Delivery Team deployed across NHS and wider health and care settings, establishing appropriate channels for professional accountability.
- Responsible for policy implementation and development, working with organisations across the RRDN.
- Actively engage with and advise on opportunities for enhanced delivery of the NIHR Portfolio, ensuring equity of access to research across settings, specialties and communities.
- Support the Life Sciences Industry team, Study Support Service and Wider Care Settings team in growing and delivering research activity.
- Communicate with internal staff and a range of stakeholders to ensure compliance with strategic objectives.
- Act as a champion for patients, participants, carers and the public, ensuring that their interests are meaningfully incorporated into the development and delivery of the RDN and RRDN.
- The role will identify and guide emerging capacity opportunities and existing research governance arrangements of new sites and settings, requiring liaison with the Study Support Service and Wider Care Settings team to ensure appropriate support and training is provided.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- The post holder will provide operational development and senior leadership of the Agile Research Delivery Team alongside senior leadership post holders in the RRDN. They will be the senior leader responsible for the oversight and management of the regional Agile Research Delivery Team. This includes day to day operations and strategic, forward planning in line with RDN vision and priorities.
- Working closely with the RRDN team and specifically the Head of Research Delivery & Support for Wider Care Settings and Agile Research Delivery Team Manager(s), provide oversight of local feasibility assessments and reviews for studies, including identifying potential sites/investigators that could conduct the study, assessing the available research resources including skills, facilities and equipment and provide robust recruitment goals.
- Working closely with the stakeholders and senior leaders across settings to ensure effective and efficient deployment and management of Agile Research Delivery Team staff in their respective organisations.
- In collaboration with regional and national colleagues, develop and have oversight of the implementation of a process for determining prioritisation principles/ triage system with a corresponding resource exit strategy to take into account research activity of national and local importance.
- In collaboration with regional and national colleagues, develop and have oversight of the implementation of specific RRDN criteria for accessing support from the Agile Research Delivery Team.
- As part of the regional senior leadership team, determine local RRDN consideration of geographical spread of the Agile Research Delivery Team to best ensure equity of access to the service and its benefits (use of geographical hubs across an RRDN region).
- The Agile Research Delivery Team Senior Manager will provide all line management duties and performance related activities for those posts listed as direct reports, with adherence to host policies and procedures. This will include undertaking staff reviews to identify training and development needs, and establishing how those needs will be met, and managing performance against agreed objectives. The post holder will ensure the same review processes take place for all staff within the defined function via appropriate line management arrangements and that skills and capabilities exist to meet current and future business needs.

Travelling to work
Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.
We look to allocate these spaces fairly. Our Travel Office have a set of criteria that staff must meet in order to qualify. If you qualify for a space, you may be placed on a waiting list if we are at full capacity.
The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect.
The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle. Please see Konect website for further details.
The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.
