Summary:
The Senior Director of People Operations will oversee and provide strategic guidance to the team’s approach to employee engagement and culture; learning and development; performance management; benefits and total rewards, diversity, equity and inclusion; and organizational design and development. As a member of the People and Culture Leadership team, you will guide, coach and collaborate with a team of direct reports and will partner across the organization to support evolving organizational needs and priorities ensuring we develop, support and retain our staff in an inclusive environment where all can thrive as we work to save LGBTQ young lives.
Who You Are:
- Experienced. Proven successful experience in a leadership role, overseeing functions responsible for HR/HR Operations/People Operations, including: compensation & benefits, training & development, employee relations, organization design & development, DEI, and compliance. This will include successful people and team management.
- Collaborator. Proven collaborator who approaches all work and interactions with empathy and inclusion, with recognized success in creating relationships with cross-functional teams from varying levels, working closely with colleagues to brainstorm ideas, discuss pros/cons, and develop ways forward. Proven ability to listen and respond to develop mutual understanding and trust.
- Communicator. Demonstrated ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively in written and oral forms to audiences inside and outside of the organization. Skilled at conveying technical information to a non-technical audience
- Focused on service delivery and adaptability. Demonstrates a commitment to outstanding internal and external service to our colleagues, the individuals we serve, our donors, and those with whom we collaborate and communicate. Proven focus on proactive and inclusive issue resolution and continuous improvement for all systems and processes. Demonstrated flexibility in the midst of change, being able to successfully juggle multiple deliverables, and adapting to new situations with fresh ideas or innovative approaches.
- Mission and Culture Aligned: Demonstrates awareness and support for The Trevor Project’s mission and vision: to end suicide and address mental health crises in the LGBTQ youth community, and create a world where all LGBTQ young people see a bright future for themselves.
- People Manager. Experienced people manager of a team with proven success in training, leading, coaching, developing, and managing the performance of direct reports, Clearly communicating goals and priorities inwardly and outwardly, engaging staff in the execution of responsibilities, and creates open channels of communication and feedback while ensuring team members are accountable for achieving outcomes. Demonstrated track record of communicating organizational decisions, policies, and processes in perspective, keeping the organization’s best interest at the heart of all communications, decisions, and actions.
- Operations Manager. Proven ability to successfully lead operations and teams to scale, with experience in successfully managing complex projects with multiple resources and capable of allocating resources to achieve key objectives
- Organization and Detail Orientation. Proven organizational, time, and task management skills and prioritization skills with demonstrated detail orientation; proven understanding of the impact of personal and team deliverables on others, having successfully navigated environments where quality, efficiency, and end results are paramount.
What You’ll Do
- Coach, develop, and mentor a team responsible for Employee Engagement, Surveys and Company-wide Feedback tools, Learning and Development, and Performance Management Strategy
- Utilize & optimize tools and processes that capture the voice of all of our employees in a dynamic way - leveraging all forms of data collection to help create employee-focused strategies, programs, and processes
- Track and develop progress of programs and employee engagement with content and execution of tangible KPIs
- Implement talent management approaches that incorporates union strategy and increases our bench strength, fosters internal mobility, develops internal capability and promotes diversity and equity
- Design and develop an employee communication program in partnership with our Marketing, Communications, and Content (MCC) team that represents and shapes our culture, communicates strategic priorities, and provides clear messaging for a global audience
- Execute engagement strategies and programs that build brand ambassadors, promote adoption of our employment brand, and increase employee retention and engagement across the various stages of the employee lifecycle
- Manage and develop change management practices that ensure quality of adoption of culture change and ensures objectives were met optimally
- Align our employee experience and our day-to-day People Team operations with overall DEIB and corporate strategy
- Continuously roll out processes, initiatives and best practices that support and engage employees in a high-growth environment
- Serve as a role model for the company’s culture by practicing, demonstrating, and pushing for the highest standards of behavior and ethics in all decision making
- Develop and oversee the execution of the People and Culture Operations department’s strategy to create and maintain a best-in-class employee experience in a diverse and inclusive culture where all staff can thrive
- Inspire, coach, and steer a growing team of People Operations leaders
- Own the development of a new People and Culture Business Partners sub-department, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing staff
- Manage annual plans, goals, workforce planning, and budgets for the People Operations department
- Partner at all levels on current and emerging People and Culture Operations needs and priorities
- In partnership with the Legal team, ensure that People and Culture Operations functions operate in compliance with all national, state, and local laws, policies, and best practices
- Provide guidance to the people and culture strategy for planned international expansion
- Champion and serve as a culture carrier for The Trevor Project’s values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- In collaboration with the Chief People Officer, serve as a strategic partner and advisor in matters related to our employees and culture, our growth strategy and exploration of international and/or language expansion, and other evolving needs of our organization
- Other relevant tasks, duties, or special projects as assigned
$155,000 - $170,000 a year
